5/5

This book follows Madison through the new beginnings of her life, by deciding to marry Micah her world is turned upside down, then with the birth of her son everything changes for Madison. Everything seems to be going well when Micah heads off to work and does not return, on reporting him missing Madison's whole world is turned up side down by what she discovers about her husband. Awhile after Micah leaves her son starts to act really strange and theres nothing the doctors can do for him. On visiting everyone that she can find eventually a group of demon hunters arrives to help her, and the start of a new journey and what her husband has planned for her all starts to reveal itself.
I loved this book following the relationship between Madison and Micah is engaging and captivating, leaving you thinking everything is going to go as planned, then with a twist of the storyline everything changes. I love Madison's character and tenaciousness always growing and learning, and i found that i loved growing and leaning with her especially emotionally. I loved Nix and everything he stands for, always trying to help but never knowing if he is going to be able to deal with all the problems going on, but still trying to live life to the full. I loved the whole story line getting immersed in Madison's world following everything she goes through both emotionally and physically. Gracen has done a wonderful job with this the first book in the series bringing to life everything and everyone encouraging readers to follow along with the world she is creating. I cant wait for the next book in the series to see how everything pans out and who Madison will meet next. All credit to Gracen.

Madisons life lessons - Gracen Miller

Madison's life lessons - Gracen Miller

About the book:
Fate can mark one early for a particular future.

Madison Wescott’s life is Hell on earth. Her father, a Baptist Preacher, convinces her she’s morally corrupt when men notice her blooming beauty. She strives to be unnoticeable, but nothing satisfies her condemning parents.

And sometimes fate has nothing to do with one’s potential.

Temptation rears its head when Micah Dominus visits her father’s church on Christmas morning, but she is unprepared for her physical reaction to him. Frightened by her own emotions, she is grateful she’ll never see him again. But when he shows up again at a friend’s funeral, and at other times in her life, she’s swayed by his charisma. Micah becomes her white knight through the good and bad, but can they create the perfect life together? Or has she just located the beginning of the Road to Hell?

Supernatural forces more powerful than fate can claim one’s destiny…

5/5

This book is a prequel to the Road to hell series, and follows Madison before and after she met Micah. Madison finds that she is attracted to a man, and she has never felt this way before. With her father always telling her she is going to Hell and the devil is in her, she at first believes that he is right and that her feelings are sinful. This soon changes as Madison when Madison decides that she doesn't believe in her fathers god and wants to strike out on her own. The change in her mothers attitude and what she sees and hears brings about her resolve to do as she wants, thus making her turn to Micah more and more with him becoming her rock in everything. She does have a lot of life lessons to learn.
I loved this book so much, set out before she meets Micah, the lessons Madison learns are real and believable to everyone reading this book. I found the characters entertaining especially Madison and Micah, with the interactions between the two bewitching and enthralling. The whole way that this book is written brings you into Madison's world and makes you understand more about her and her back story, giving an amazing incite into who and what Madison is to become. I loved this book so much i went straight out to buy the first book in the series Pandora's box and I'm sure i am not going to be disappointed.

Wicked little lies - Tanya contois

Wicked Little Lies - Tanya Contois

About the book:
Jocelyn has just turned 18 but instead of having the big celebration she was looking forward to for so long she finds out that not only is she not fully human but the people who raised her aren’t her real parents. Instead of staying to listen to her parents’ explanation she takes off and ends up going to live with her biological parents Jacoby and Adeline. Jocelyn quickly makes new friends and gains a potential boyfriend named Sonny but things are far from safe when Kane, another cambion makes his presence known. Now Jocelyn is left with many questions but few answers. What does the future hold for her and will she end up with Sonny? Only time will tell.

4/5

This is a short novella in which Jocelyn celebrates her birthday only to find out her world is now going o turn upside down, with everything she knew turning out to be lies. Finding out on her 18th  birthday that the people she knows as her parents are not really that, she ends up running away only to end up living with her biological parents.  Only everything in her life now seems to pose more questions, will she ever get the answers she wants ?
I loved this short novella, the character of Jocelyn is really well written and you feel like you really get to know her. The interaction between her and the other characters is amazing drawing you into the whole storyline, of which is really well written. I found that i was immersed in Jocelyn's world growing and discovering everything with her. All the questions that get asked within the story line as well as the twists leave the reader wanting more, and if threes one bad point about the book its that i wanted more and the story to be longer. I cant wait for the next instalment to find out answers to the questions asked, and to see how Jocelyn comes to terms with her new found status as well as what else will befall her. All credit to Tanya for a great novella.

Melissa Turner Lee - blog post and review

Please welcome Melissa Turner Lee author of The earth painter, I am now going to hand you over to Melissa.

How I Started Writing

I've wanted to write or do something creative since I was a child. The idea of a desk job made me cringe inside. I tried singing and acting but I didn't like people looking at me. That doesn't go well with either of those. I majored in Journalism in college but never used it. Journalistic writing just wasn't what I was interested in doing.
Then there were the years I tried to find a normal job. Any job. I went through a list of those. My brother's family used Jobs Aunt Missy has Had as a category of charades while camping. Then I had my 3 little boys...one right after the other. I was in a sleep deprived stupor, buried in diapers and laundry when my sweet husband gave me the day off. I left my house not sure where to go or what to do. Then I remembered that I used to love to read. So I went to Barnes & Noble, bought a giant Starbucks and picked up a book called Twilight.

That day I remembered so many things while reading that book. I remembered what it was like to be 17 and notice the cute boy. I remembered falling in love with my husband (he was the cute boy), but most of all, I remembered me...the me who existed before kids. The girl who always wanted to write books. The one who couldn't hold down a job because of the characters in her head always telling her their stories.
So I went home and got on my floor and cried and prayed to God for help and the ability to write stories that made people remember and feel things. And then I got up and started writing and haven't stopped.
And now I have The Earth Painter out on Amazon, Barnes& Noble, Sony and Smashwords. It's my first Young Adult Supernatural Romance set in my old high school. There is reality mixed with fantasy about why that school is no longer standing. And it was inspired by a picture my husband drew in high school art class of me...before he met me, that disappeared when we got married. (This last part is 100% TRUE)

Thanks so much Melissa for your post
I have read The earth painter find my review below

About the book:
When a self-conscious young woman discovers the boy in drama class is actually the immortal who painted the world into being, she becomes the target of another painter who hates humanity. The Earth Painter is a Young Adult Supernatural Romance set in the small mill town of Chesnee, SC. It revolves around Holly Scruggs, who's family has just moved back to Chesnee after her dad lost his job along with pretty much everything they owned. Her image conscious parents correct her to the point of brokenness until she meets Theo. He is the artist responsible for all the beauty of the land and he thinks Holly is beautiful too. Together they will fight against Fritz, the water painter who hates humans and is hiding a secret under the high school.

4/5

This book is about the struggles of being a teenager, especially one who has had to move schools in her senior year. On arriving the first day at her new school Holly spends most of her time with her head stuck in a book that is until everything changes in drama class. Holly meets Theo and wonders why everyone else seems to overlook him. Once she has discovered his secret, that's when the adventure really starts, and she finds that she is subject to a human hating painter.
I found this book a really enjoyable read, with the characters coming to life and writing that was really good. I loved Holly and the struggles she goes through, believing them and understanding that most teenagers go through the same thing. The whole story line was captivating, leaving the reader wanting to know what was going to happen next, and how Holly is going to manage to get out of another tight situation. I loved the interaction between Holly and Theo especially with the will they/ wont  they going on . I found Holly's mum to be really quite funny in an odd way and loved the way her character had been written. Overall i really enjoyed this book and feel that young adult readers would love to read this very different paranormal romance book. I for one will be looking out for the next book in the series to find out what else is going to happen once Holly goes to college. All credit goes to Melissa for a really enjoyable read.

Amelia Maylock Book 4 - Jay Ellis

Amelia Maylock Book 4 - Jay Ellis

About the book:
The fourth book in the Amelia Maylock series.

"I need to be careful." People in the old fashioned dimension were not familiar with magic of any kind. Amelia reminded herself that staying disguised was paramount. If she did find something wrong in the town square, Amelia knew she would need to decide quickly if she was going to react, or get out of there to safety. As she turned the final corner and saw the black iron fence ahead of her, it was clear straight away that something connected to her magical world was happening. A few feet in front of her, hanging in the middle of the road, all the way up to the fence, was an uneven line of white light. It had a distinctive blue tinge to it and looked as if someone had run along with a pen - that wrote in light - scribbling in the air. "I've never seen anything like that before!" Pretending to be totally unaware of it, and just a 'normal' girl walking home, Amelia followed the light trail towards the iron fence.

4/5

This is the forth book in the Amelia series. In this book we continue along Amelia's journey, she visits new dimensions, and as always is a magnet for trouble. She visits a very old fashioned dimension where anything magical is just not familiar to the population. When strange light appear she knows that something is not right, but Amelia being who she is decides to act like she hasn't seen it and is one of the locals, that's where everything starts to go wrong for her. As she deals with that problem the next on the list is saving her friend from the death dimension, planning and arranging every tiny detail of the whole operation takes quite some time, and although Amelia starts to have doubts about what they are doing she wants to get her friend back so puts everything aside to make sure she can do that. She faces many problems and challenging tests while on her quest, and that doesn't end when she has finished what she needs to do.
I loved the fact that in this book we see Amelia start to grow into a women, with her 14th birthday and the new powers that she is acquiring all the time. She travels to new and different dimensions as well as getting in fights and making new friends. I really feel that this series is going from strength to strength with Jays writing really pulling you along in the story and immersing you in Amelia's world. I love this action packed forth book as we are definitely seeing new sides to Amelia and her friends. I will admit this book finishes on a bit of a cliffhanger and i cant wait to read the next book and see whats going to happen to Amelia next.

Amelia Maylock Book 3 - Jay Ellis

Amelia Maylock Book 3 - Jay Ellis

About the book:
The highly anticipated third book in the Amelia Maylock series. -

They all started walking up the bank and used the tree trunks as cover, concealing themselves in the shadows when they moved, silently. It was a needed skill too as Maratlus had guards on patrol near the metal entrances to the caves. Some were creatures that Amelia recognised from her training with the old hag - when she created attackers for Amelia to overcome, safely - and others were large, muscular people. The creatures were called hybrids because Erryaz had used her evil magic to create many drones, for uses such as this. The creatures here looked like humans cross bred with dogs or wolves. They stood upright on two legs, yet were covered in fur and had a long snout and extremely sharp teeth. They were all heavily armed and simply stood on watch, turning their heads left and right in a monotonous rhythm.

4/5

In this book the third in the series we follow Amelia as she continues to grow and learn about her new powers, through her struggles dealing with her double life. Very slowly others that will help Amelia are coming out of hiding, and in this book we meet the guardian of the pearl of time. On finding out that her evil sister has managed to get hold of this pearl the search is on to retrieve it from her and try and gain some more of the power back.
This book is definitely a fitting third book in the series, it continues where the second book left off. Jay is continually shaping the world around Amelia as well as bringing in new characters to help and guide Amelia through the struggles that she is facing with her sister. I love the way that Amelia is growing and maturing, as well as that she is starting to grow a back bone and think for herself. The story line is well written and engaging, really pulling you into Amelia's world and making you feel like you are right there with her. I cant wait for the next in this series and a question i really want answered is will Amelia ever get a love interest, and is that person going to be Ral ?

5/5

I loved this book from the start, i found it refreshing in he way it brings a whole new story to a paranormal romance. The characters are well written and believable. The story line is really good and engaging, pulling you into Gracie's world. The story is well written and establishes a background to the main characters as you go along making you feel like you know the characters and where they are coming from. The interactions between everyone are well scripted and believable, bringing you into Gracie's world and making you follow along with everything that is happening to her. Storm Born 4 ( Graphic Novel ) - Richelle Mead

Storm Born 4 ( Graphic Novel ) - Richelle Mead

About the book:

Eugenie Markham never asked for any of this. Until now, she''s been content with her job as a freelance shaman, battling and banishing Otherworldly creatures. When a prophecy suddenly makes her the Otherworld''s most popular bachelorette, Eugenie finds herself fighting off unwanted supernatural suitors, as well as the evils that begin emerging from her past...

5/5

In this graphic novel the story continues with Eugenie finding out who her real father is. She continues to battle other world creatures, and she is now finding out about the other world prophecy which is going to make her one eligible lady.
This graphic novel follows really well from the previous volumes in the series, making the story and storyline easy to follow. This is action packed and fast paced, bringing both the storyline and the graphics to life. I love the graphic illustrations in his volume, they take you along with the story aiding you all the way through. I will definitely be heading over for the next installment once it is available, and although i still haven't read these books yet they are at the top of my list to buy and read.

Together Bound - Elizabeth Noble

Together Bound - Elizabeth Noble

About the book:
Todd and Nick Ruger have settled into their life and work, the master/slave bond in New Colorado tying them together in a sacred rite of service, protection, and—in their case—love. But out of the blue, Todd receives a letter from the vice-chancellor of New Colorado threatening their bond, demanding ownership of Nick under eminent domain.

It turns out Vice-Chancellor Clarke desperately needs the help of the sentries, especially Nick, to investigate a problem involving the Chancellor. With New Colorado on the verge of war with West Caldera, a rift in the government would be disastrous. Todd and Nick agree to help, and Nick enters the orphan slave compound while Todd joins the Estate security force.

They don’t expect the danger they discover. Now the target of an unimaginable threat, Nick and Todd will face terrors that lead to murder, imprisonment, and the threat of separation forever as the hopeless battle escalates into full-scale war.

4/5

This is the second book in the series, and in this book we follow Nick and Todd on another job. Only this time many things are different they Will have to be separated, and Todd ill have to change his name as well as not being seen as Nick master let alone his mate. The vice chancellor has got a problem and he thinks that the only way to deal with it is to get blackmail Todd with his slave in order to get the job done, once the job is agreed neither of them see the turn of events that will happen, leaving Nick questioning his mate status with his master Todd. Once completed the country goes to war and who knows what is going to happen to everyone.
I enjoyed the continuation of the story, and finding out more about the relationship between Nick and Todd. The story line was really well written and i enjoyed that this book also followed a paranormal plot, letting us see what its like to live as they do and what sort of creatures they face while working. I loved the interaction between Nick and Todd especially with regards to their personal relationship, seeming always to have some under lying problem going on, the relationship if endearing and captivating and really well written. I will be looking out for the next book in this series to find out how everything goes on the run.

Dragon Bound - Thea Harrison

Dragon Bound - Thea Harrison

About the book:
The first novel of the elder races, Dragon Bound begins a groundbreaking paranormal romance series from a talented new voice in the realm of dragons, danger and desire.
Half human and half wyr, Pia Giovanni spent her life keeping a low profile among the wyrkind and avoiding the continuing conflict between them and their dark fae enemies. But after being blackmailed into stealing a coin from the hoard of a dragon, Pia finds herself targeted by one of the most powerful - and  passionate - of the elder races.
As the most feared and respected of the wyrkind, Dragos Cuelebre cannot believe someone has the audacity to steal from him, much less succeed. And when he catches the thief, Dragos spares her life, claiming her as his own to further explore the desire they've ignited in each other.
Pia knows she must repay Dragos for her trespass, but refuses to become his slave - although she cannot deny wanting him, body and soul......

5/5

I received this book from Thea, and she signed it fr me. I have had this a few months now waiting to get around to reading it, and boy do i wish i had read it sooner. This book is the first in a new series for Thea, and  it follow Pia who is a half breed through a rough patch in her life being blackmailed by her ex boyfriend into doing something that is so stupid it is going to change the course of her life forever. She steals from the dragon king himself, thus then putting her quiet life that she wanted way into the past as she now has to go on the run from him. As he then captures her everything changes.
I loved this book from the start the story is captivating, enticing and thrilling all at the same time. Thea has done a fantastic job with the characters they are well rounded, and they have depth and emotion, as well as everyday flaws to their personalities. The world that surrounds the characters draws you in making you believe you are there, as well as wanting to be there. The fight and emotional scenes are so well written that you believe every emotion that is written down, and that that is how the characters would feel. The interaction between all of the characters is amazing especially between Dragos , his staff and Pia. It is both entertaining, serious ans emotional. I was kept captivated the whole way through and definitely will be heading over to read the next book in this series.

Carnal: Pride of the lions - John Connell

Carnal: Pride of the lions - John Connell

About the book:
The first graphic novel in the Carnal series, Pride of the Lions takes place on the continent of New Africa and focuses on three main species of humanistic animals. After the Great War decades earlier between the hyenas and the lions, the victorious and once united lion prides now lay scattered across the land, torn by civil unrest over territory disputes and food shortages. The hyena clans that survived the war were forced deep into the Earth and now live in a massive underground city under the control of a terrible witch. The buffalo race is indifferent to most other species and have walled themselves off from the rest of the kingdoms. Humans have lost their hold on the African territories long ago and live as a simple, nomadic species. The first book opens with Long Eyes, an old sapphire-eyed lion who is determined to save the lion kingdom and rescue his warrior son, Oron, who has gone missing. Long Eyes believes Oron is the key to uniting the prides. A young lioness tracker named Omi is sent out with the protection of two lion brothers to locate the missing warrior, but what they find is something that may unravel the very foundation of life for all species.

5/5

This book covers the story of a pride of lions after the big war with the hyenas. They have now all become separated and at war with each other over food and provisions. The leader sends his sun Oron in search of trying to make peace with the witch and the hyena pack, only for him to go missing. When an elder cast out from another tribe turns up with tales of Oron and his females being attacked, they have no choice but to try and rescue Oron from the witch. A rescue mission is attempted and that's where things start to go wrong.
I must say the first ting that draws you to this book is the amazing artwork on the cover, and this continues throughout the book. Once you start reading the story you are transported into their world, following everything and wanting to know about all of the characters. I found that the characters were well written, with in depth backgrounds enabling you to believe in each and every one of them, this along with the artwork makes it an amazing book, with everything you could want contained in there. I know i will be looking out for the next one released next year (2012). I urge you all to go read this.

He, producing alongside James Cameron, just wrapped the Untitled Cirque Du Soleil 3-D project, which was written and directed by Adamson. Pariah is his first graphic novel series.

4/5

In this 4th issue we follow how all of the Pariah come together after they have been rounded up by the authorities. Although there is a lot of double crossing that goes on in this issue, as well as lots of people not being happy with either being tricked or caught in order to be shipped off to new places.
I found this a really good follow on, as in this issue everything seemed to come together. All the previous characters are now into the same story line. This is well written and exciting, i now want to know what is going to happen to the whole race, and how much more double crossing is going to happen. The graphics are really good following the story line really well, explaining in pictures what else is happening in the background of the dialogue. I think this is a really good issue to get you hooked on he rest of the series and i will be looking forward to finding out what is going to happen next to the characters individually as well as as a group.

He can use that knowledge to get us to do whatever he wants, no matter how dangerous, immoral or repugnant that might be. Maudsley has no moral compass. He has no compassion. But he's very curious about how far he can push people and what he can get away with. Maudsley wants to rule the world... to control us all. Maudsley is 15 years old.

4/5

In this the 3rd in the series we find out about the character Maudsley, who it appears wants to rule the world and has no moral fibre at all. He manipulates people using information on them in order to get them to do what he wants. We meet him a few years before the accident at the lab happened, and go through his time back then up until the present day.
I found this issue intriguing to say the least, i liked finding out the back story to a character that i think may play a big role in future issues of Pariah. The graphics complimented his story well letting you see the action as it was happening, adding the extra dimension to the whole thing. The story line was well written, and I'm sure there is more to come from this character, i cant wait to find out what that is and if hes going to turn everything around to his own advantage or if he is going to work with all of the others to create there own space and world to live in.

Pariah Graphic Novel No 2 - Aron Warner

About the book:
Why are the most elite black-ops forces chasing a 16-year-old girl across the country? Why can't they find her? And why do they want to kill her? Because they think Lila Ellerman is a terrorist who released a deadly virus into the wild. But really, she's just a girl with a crush on a guy named Brandon. Yes, she's figured out the science of controlling anti-matter, but that doesn't make her a criminal. Will she be able to protect her friends and keep them from being taken prisoner, or worse?

4/5

So this is the second Graphic novel in the series, and although i thought we would continue on where the last one left off, this one is actually about what happened in the lab, and follows Lila's story after everything goes wrong in the lab.
I found this story a little different to the first issue, although i wasn't disappointed with finding out what happened in the lab that made everything go wrong i did miss not following on from the first issue. But that said this issue was a really good story line, and the graphics were good although possibly not as good as the first one, but they did follow the story along nicely giving pictures to the action going on around. i will be heading over to the next installment to see where everything is going to lead with the escape, capture and eventual outcome of it all.

4/5

This Graphic novel is about Brent and is the first in a series of Graphic novels that Aron warner is going to do. This follows Brent as he finds out that those of his kin are not like him they seem to be out to cause the world problems. Being a Pariah who grows up to be an extremely intelligent being, although Brent doesn't see him self as anything but normal.
I found the graphics in this novel good, with clear indicators as to what was happening within the dialogue. I enjoyed finding out about Brent and the sort of person he believes he is, although i do think there is a lot more to come from him in the coming issues. The plot line is well thought out and compels the reader to keep on reading to the end. I enjoyed reading this Graphic novel and will be reading the next one in the series to find out what is going to happen next.

The Marsburg Diaries- Chris White

The Marsburg Diaries - Chris White

About the book:
Harvey Marsburg, son of the late William Marsburg, is reading through his deceased father's long-lost diary. At first, Harv is annoyed at the peculiarities of his father, irritated that he has to uncover old wounds by reading this old book. But he finds to his amazement that his father might not actually have been mad. In fact it appears that William may have been nearly 150 years old when he died in 1977. Now his body lies decomposing in a Yorkshire mausoleum, but his legacy lives on. Harvey reads cryptic notes from the executor: "May your father rest in peace. He deserves it." Something watches him from the darknesses of his house as he reads the diary with growing interest. Plus, there are two other books in that old trunk that the foundation sent. One of them, he could swear it, is calling to him..

4/5

This book follows William who had a tenuous relationship with his father many years ago. After he died William received items belonging to his father, including a trunk that he has never to this point looked in. After receiving a letter from his father the opens the trunk and finds a safe within there, locked away for all these year are three books. The first of which he picks up and finds is his fathers diary from many years ago, feeling compelled to read the diary, and this is where the story really starts to take a turn.
I found this book well written and compelling to read. The story of William and his fathers diary along with all the strange happenings really pull the reader into the story. I really enjoyed the darkness behind the story, and found that the author has done a really good job in weaving a world of which is believable and enticing. I cant wait to read the next instalment of this novella to find out where all the darkness is going to lead William, as well as what else he is going to find out about his fathers past that he doesn't know.

Covet - J R Ward

Covet - J R Ward

About the book:
Redemption isn't a word Jim Heron knows much about - his specialty is revenge and, to him, sin is all relative. But everything changes when he becomes a fallen angel and is charged with saving the souls of seven people from the seven deadly sins. And failure is not an option. Vin Di Pietro long ago gave himself up to his business - until fate intervenes in the form of a tough-talking, Harley-riding, self-professed saviour, and a woman who makes him question his destiny. With an ancient evil ready to claim him, Vin has to work with a fallen angel not only to win his beloved over...but to redeem his very soul.

5/5

I picked up this book as i love the BDB boys. Although it is a completely different book to those so i wouldn't want to compare it, so that is the only reference i will make to my boys. This book is about Jim who has had a very chequered past , but then everything changes when he dies only to become a fallen angel with tasks that he must complete in order for the world as we know it to stay exactly the same as it has always been. We also meet Vin who is a business man only interested in money and how to get more everything in his life is about what he can buy and what he will get out of it until he meets Jim and goes out for a drink, then his life changes with one look from a very special woman. With Jim trying to save Vin from a destiny of evil in order to complete his first task, and that's when things start to get difficult.
I loved this book from the start Ward has an amazing way with words drawing you into the whole story line and captivating readers into always wanting more from her characters. Everything is always described in such a way that you always know whats going on, but want to find out what is going to happen next, what relationships are going to be formed and how they will pan out in the grand scheme of things. I will definitely be heading for the next book in this series as i find Wards work so compelling to read even if its not the first time you have read the book you will definitely want to re read it at a later date.

This term the secretive Darke Academy has moved to New York, and Cassie Bell is no longer the innocent new girl. Now she is strong, determined, and hiding secrets of her own. When an old enemy returns, bent on revenge, Cassie is tested to the limit. Can she rescue her friends from a horrific fate, or will she end up destroying them to save herself? Wherever the Darke Academy goes, death is never far behind ...

4/5

This is the second book in the series and follows Cassie through her coming to terms with being part of the Few although she is also very different from all the rest of them. It follows through her relationship with the stunningly beautiful Ranjit and the problems that come with the relationship they have. There are a lot of secrets kept between the 3 friends that in the end cause trouble between them all, but when the time comes they have to put things aside and deal with the real problem at hand, that they are all in danger from the past coming back with vengeance. Will they manage to settle everything and deal with the threats or will death follow Cassie around as it seems to have done in the past.
I found this a really good second installment of the series, it easily took over where the first left off keeping me captivated with Cassie's story. As well as her trials and tribulations at coming to terms with being Few,and everything that comes with that and more . Delving into the new city and finding out more about the characters and what they have to deal with is so well written that you feel like you could be there. I found that i wanted to know what was going to happen and how everything was going to end for Cassie both in her private life and her life within the Few. I will be heading over very soon to re read the third part in this series so stay tuned.

Darke Academy Secret Lives - Gabriella Poole

Darke Academy Secret Lives - Gabriella Poole

About the book:
The Darke Academy is a school like no other. An elite establishment that moves to an exotic new city every term, its students are impossibly beautiful, sophisticated and rich. And the more new scholarship girl Cassie Bell learns about the Academy, the more curious she becomes. What sinister secrets are guarded by the Few -- the select group of students who keep outsiders away? Who is the dark stranger prowling the corridors at night? And what really happened a year earlier, when the last scholarship girl died in mysterious circumstances? One thing Cassie will discover is that a little knowledge may be a dangerous thing, but knowing too much can be deadly...

4/5

This is the first in a series of books about the Darke Academy, in this book we meet Cassie as she leaves her old life living in an orphanage. Cassie has managed to pass a test as well as an interview and secure herself a place at the prestigious Darke Academy. Everything changes when she arrives at the Darke Academy, with having to make new friends as well as getting everything she could out of her experience going through this new school. Along with her room mate Cassie discovers that there are many things that she doesn't know about the academy and this makes her curious, so she ends up sneaking around at night only to find that there is more than just her out at night and now she wants to know what is really going on at the Darke Academy and what this ha to do with an elite group know as the Few. What will Cassie find out when she goes in search of answers.
I enjoyed reading this book, and as it is the second time i have read it that does bode well or this series. I found the book well written and the locations well researched. You follow along with Cassie and everything that happens along the way, the author sucks you in making you want to continue reading to find out what Else Cassie is going to get up to and what trouble she is going to end up in at the end of everything. I really enjoyed the story line and the whole take on it, i found that it is a very different book than a lot of books that are around bringing a whole new sort of supernatural creature. I will definitely be looking at the next book in the series again.

But is Zoey really safe? Does she truly know those who are closest to her? And will love win when it is tested by the very soul of Darkness? Find out what s destined in the next thrilling chapter of the House of Night series.

5/5

I couldn't wait to read this book, the next installment in the House of Night series. We follow the trials of Zoey as she fights against the dark that is Neferet. This book covers Zoey and the gang returning to the Tulsa house of night under slightly different rules than they had before. Zoey is still trying to convince everyone outside of her gang of friends that Neferet is not what she seems to be, her hardest job is to convince the council that she hasn't been forgiven by Nix. In this book she finds an unlikely ally coming together to try and defeat a common enemy. How will everything pan out i would definitely give this book a read to find out especially if you are a fan of the series. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who has not read this book yet but go and read it.
I really enjoyed this book although i must admit it did take me a little longer than the rest of the books to get into the story. Once i was there though i couldn't put it down and loved the way it was written, the action and the twists and turns that took place. Once again the authors have managed to keep me enthralled by Zoey and her band of friends. I cant wait for the next installment next year to find out what else is going to happen in the house of night.
